Trade shows and exhibitions are a great way to market, network and find all your top clients gather at one place at the same time. So why should a company go beyond its direct market and exhibit in a new place? Many say that International exhibitions give you the perfect opportunity to test new and promising markets. Let's take a look into the world of International exhibiting and find out why it is gathering momentum all over the world.

1.  In any exhibition whether it is abroad or not, four things have to be taken into consideration. They are planning, promoting, training staff and obtaining excellent leads that can be transferred into sales for the company. These are the basic things applicable in a trade show wherever you are exhibiting.

2.  In each country there is a method to handling business transactions. So it will be a good idea to learn the cultural aspects of business conduct in a particular country before setting up your exhibition stand. In some countries people expect business to be conducted among personnel of the same level while business is more casual in some places. This learning will help you not to make any huge blunders or offend people of the host country.

3.  Keep your exhibition manuals in hand as they can guide you through various queries concerning taxes, other logistics, and union regulations etc. Also hire a competent international exhibition contractor with good credentials. He will help you through decisions concerning shipping, expense, time required etc with his experience. All this will work only if you plan ahead otherwise you will only have the most expensive option left.

4.   Language can be a problem while exhibiting in a foreign country. You can either take a translator with you or hire one locally. The pamphlets and other literature given from the exhibition stand should also be translated to the local language. Even if there is a translator, it is important for the booth staff to have a small directory of commonly used words in the local language along with them. This will help them to reach out as well as not to say anything that may have a different connotation in the local language. Most international exhibition manuals have some details given about the local language.

5.  Another important thing is whether to hire an exhibition stand abroad or take your current stand along. This depends largely on the country in which you are aiming to market and how much are you willing to spend. If the country is an emerging market then it is better to rent a stand then move on to build a stand the following year. This only if the market is promising. The organizers of the trade show may have a good list of stand design companies if you want. But the best solution is to find a good company domestically which has a firm standing in the countries abroad.

6.  It is vital not to make errors with things concerning foreign safety legislation and sign up processes; this is again where the exhibition manual can come in handy. Local contractors and stand designers are useful as they make fewer mistakes and have a good knowledge of rules and regulations. For example some countries have strict union rules.

7.  There are domestic trade associations which will help you conduct a good show. They can be counted on for local guidance and they take large stands in the shows so that the companies can take smaller ones at a bargain. For example the UK Trade and Investment Body which actively offers guidance to exhibitors from the UK with donations, guidance and so on.

8.  Details which may seem obvious can be overlooked and this causes problems for exhibitors. Seemingly unimportant things like reading the exhibition manual can help you avoid a lot of problems. When choosing an international exhibitor take care to note whether they are truly global, where do they have offices and so on. Also it is important to check whether they can replace equipment or parts in the last minute when there is a problem.
